I had forgotten how freaking hard it is to just stand on your feet for 8 hours a day. Saturday was incredibly busy, so I was pulled off training to greet folks coming in with a little puppet. And to stop folks from stealing change out of the crocodile pool. So I was standing, all day, in my cute, but not necessarily comfortable, new boots. By the end of the night I was exhausted, and I needed a beer. I did not want to go far, though, as I had to wake up the next day and start it all over again.
I ended up at the Chevy's across the way. I was just planning on having a shot and a beer and heading out to find someplace to crash, but there was a ball game on, and I ended up hanging out for a while. I met two very cool guys, John and Fletch (hi guys!). They are corporate pilots, just out here gassing up after flying a priest into town, and they had lots of travel tips and spots to stop in. I now know exactly where to go in Key West, and that I have to eat at Crabby Dicks. I can't even write that without giggling. Someone came up to me at work yesterday and asked if I had crabs. The best thing was that I had no idea, so I had to go search out my trainer, and ask if she had crabs. How mature am I.
My lovely tooth is going to cost me almost $500 dollars. Yay. Looks like I might be here a little bit longer than intended. Oh well, it's a beautiful city. I just have to find the energy to go out and explore it. I need to find a cool little bar somewhere with live music that I can haunt. Thanks to some reader tips, I found Nye's Polonaise Room, which looks excellent! It was closed when I went by, so I shall be returning soon. Let Tiki live forever!
John was sure that my trip was triggered by something, way back at the beginning; mid-life crisis, getting dumped by a boyfriend, something. The only motivation I had was inertia. I had been in one place for far too long. You wouldn't think inertia would be such a driving force, but after planning and dreaming and not having enough money for far too long, it ended up being the one thing that got me out here. It was just time to go.
This is not helping me go back to work. Can't someone just send me a thousand bucks so I can fix my tooth and blow off inertia? Please! Sigh. Back to folding and smiling. Have a good day, folks.

...oooo, where in key west??...I'm pretty sure we will only get as far south as west palm beach this year...but the people we know there love the keys and tend to drag us there even if it is for the 2 nights...now, if I had somewhere to show off about :^)...
