Okay, I remembered one thing that I forgot to put down. A few days ago, when I had a morning off, I took a little trip out to Stillwater. Way cute! It's a lot like Half Moon Bay, actually. Antique stores, and cutesy gift shops in gorgeous old buildings, pumpkin patches everywhere, riverside location, and a sort of calm beauty, less than an hour from the twin cities. I am ashamed to say that I spent money. It was my first spree on this trip. And last, I swear. Anyway, I think I am done with Christmas shopping. They have a candlelight tour of their caves that I am thinking of returning for.
Last night I was in my private room at the hostel. I was on the top floor, snug and warm just above the eaves in one of those slanted, tiny attic rooms. It was great. I sat on my floral bedspread and knit under the skylight. And guess what! All the same hostel guests were there again, which makes them yet another annoying type: the stuck traveler, permanent, but with a temporary mindset. Geez, that's me too, in't it. Well, this time they did not annoy me at all, in fact they were all lovely, which proves it is all in the mind. Or that you really should spring for the private room. I got some more tips on Florida, mostly that it is ugly and strip malled, but whatever. And this time the Traveler-with-a-bad-head-cold-that-of-course-you-are-going-to-catch-since-you're-sleeping-right-next-to-her type was missing, as was the 3 year old bouncing on my bed. A lovely night, even though most of it was spent unexpectedly at work. I simply can't say no.
Now I am at a Vegan cafe, called Pandora's, in Uptown. I am heading down the street to a used bookstore, where hopefully I can do some savvy trading. I had a yummy peanut butter cookie, that just made me long for Kira's yummier ones. Sigh. Just say no to homesickness. It is a lot easier when I am moving.
3 minutes left on my paid internet connection, so hasta la vista!

Send me your zip code and I'll mail some cookies out. They'll be halfway to stale by the time they get there, so you'll have to eat them fast, but I'm sure that you won't mind too much.
