82 degrees today... not bad. But I'm going to freaking melt when the real hot weather hits. No AC in good old Tach; always figured I would outrun the heat.
I finished my LoTech!! Sort of. Enough that I could try it on and wear it around, anyway. Still working on the hood, zipper, and pockets, but it looks great. A little large, but not outrageously so (and I swear, from here on in I'll do a gauge swatch), and it's 100% cotton so I can always shrink it down a bit. I love it. I reeeeally want it to be done now, though, so much so that I may skip a few steps.
Who am I kidding? It's not going to be cool enough for a sweater here for months, so I have plenty of time to finish. Maybe I'll move on to the tank in the meanwhile.
I finally encountered my first fellow crafty girl yesterday while piecing everything together. Until then I got a few "Oh, you're crocheting" and a lot of blank looks, but no real excitement. She actually squealed, she was so happy to find another young person knitting. And it did my heart good to see her exclaim over my lovely sweater; non-knitters remarks always seem so bland in comparison to someone who knows exactly how much you sweated over something. (Non-knitters: do not take that as an excuse to stop complimenting; we love your squeals as well.)
Last night was a bit of a butt-kicker in the restaurant, so we adjourned to the bar after our shift. It was real nice to sip a long island while listening to co-workers' stories of encounters with the ghost (the kitchen guys call him "Charlie"), legends of the legion of stray cats (all descendants of one old three legged, lop eared tom), and histories of everyone on the island. I've been drinking in sneaky solitude for too long. While that's a bit of a thrill, the thrill wears off eventually. Company is good.

my non-knitting friends always squeal so much more than the knitters. i mean i can make a pot holder and my non-knitting friends think i've walked on water. knitters know better ....

As a non-knitter myself, I think it's pretty darn cool that you take a bit of string, two sticks and make all those things. Sure I might not know what a cross-stich, doubleback hatch, cable, or a guggenheim weave is, but it's impressive anyway. Forgive me if I don't squeal, my vocal chords only go to yipe.
Drinking alone feels sneaky and daring, like a ninja, but social drinking doesn't usually lead to 12 steps. Did you find anything more interesting about the ghost? Have you seen him? If you do, I think you should honk his nose. Or BellyKiss him. That should shake him out of his depression!

Is that a Florida thing - that all the cats have to be descended from one slightly abnormal cat? I mean, there's the Key West thing, with all those 6-toed cats running around.
