Beth Visits America

  • bethmap.jpg

  • Come see what Beth's up to! She's living in her pickup truck (lovingly known as Tach), and rambling the byways and backroads of America. When she has money, that is. When she runs out, she stops and gets a job until she can drive on again. Stop in here, add your comments, and wish her the best. And heck, if you have a driveway, can she sleep in it?

We've got evil wasps up the wazoo, too. In our case, it's partially due to a leaky outdoor spigot that's left some standiing water in our foundation gutters. Need to fix that, stat.

Happy cables :)

I wanna learn to cable... looks so difficult though.. Are you using cable needles or ?? Happy to see you blogging, Amy

An espresso job, too? Is that to help you stay awake during the motel job? :) (Or are you not at the motel...did I miss a post about a job change?) Ah, the irony...going to church with a specific motive...only to be met with a sermon about motives--sounds like something that would happen to me...ha! Have a good time with your visitor! (And thank you for your sweet comments re our big life change here in the tropics.) :)

Wasp nests are truly easy to deal with, but it takes courage. Take a #8 can, like tomatoes come in, and fill it 2/3 with gasoline, sneak slowly beneath the nest, off to one side, then bring the can up swiftly in a straight line toward the nest, accellerating as you go. You want the slug of gasoline to leave the can in a compact cup, directly aimed at the center of the nest.

Then just freeze and watch the wasps drop. Remember, you are a little to one side so the splash and wasp drop miss you, and every single one that is hit by gas drops immediately.

Down side? you decide you will hedge your bets and run like hell after tossing the gas. 3 out of 5 times, you and the cup are moving sideways too early. And it misses the nest. Then you will know pain.

Still, it is pretty cool when done with elan. 100% effective.

good, except the freaking nest is much, much bigger than the size of can you mentioned. I would have to chuck a damn trashcan at it.
