Who Knits?April 10, 2004
Why, we knit!
Photoblog time! (I just heard a run-through of HammerTime in my head. Not okay.)
First, I have to show you what was on my doorstep this morning when I got home from work. I had been complaining all night that I hadn't had any Cadbury Creme Eggs in a while, and look what the Bunny (Christy) left!

I took two eggs to bed with me for my two hour nap. Those eggs are my favorite candy in the whole wide world, and if they're available anywhere all year round, please don't tell me. It's a good thing for my ass they're seasonal.
After my nap, I got up and went a'knittin'. I gotta tell ya that I was a little nervous about it -- only a wee bit nervous, since I've held S'n'Bs before, and this time I knew Joanna and Silvia were my co-sponsors, but still. There's that moment in which you wonder, "Will anyone come? At all? Will I sit here and drink by myself?" Luckily Seltsame showed up right after I did (I don't want to butcher the correct spelling of your name, dear, so I'll use your online name....) and pulled out her knitting. She was quickly followed by Martha (I think). After that, hell, I lost track.
So many cool, fun, funny people! All in one place! I had a BALL! Didn't even take that many pics (for me) 'cause I was too busy running my mouth off. But here's a few fer ya.
A group shot (that's all us in the background, too):

Here are Juliette, Silvia , Amy, and Stella:

And how cute is this one? Sharlene and Juliette mugging it up:

And below are Laura, ready to HAVE that baby, Nyondo, Laine (the reader who recongized me at Stitches!), and my friend Tara. Martha's in the foreground in her FABULOUS pink Bella cardie.

No one could stop ogling Martha's bella Bella , and she inspired us all -- I bought a bunch of Horstia orange (duh) silk/wool to make it.

Darling owner Christina of Article Pract gave us 15% off all yarn purchases (THANK YOU!). It was so much fun walking around the store talking to Joy about spinning, and Nathania about color, all of us passing our patterns around -- What's the yardage needed for this? Hey, can you check the gauge on that? Sigh. Heaven.
Nathania and me (yes, she really is that gorgeous):

And Stella, me, Nathania, and dear reader Anna:

See? I wore it in public (and then took a slouched picture, oh, well....).
Am I almost done? I'm soooo tired and sooooo stupid after so little sleep, but I want to post this before I collapse on the sofa for the rest of the afternoon/evening (NO SLEEPING! If I sleep now, I'll screw up my night sleep for my weekend.....)
Oh, can't forget my favorite Rogue, Joanna:

Isn't that fit aMAYzing? Mission Falls Wool, people. All I'm sayin'.
All in all, it was a MARVELOUS time. Hey, send me an email if you want to be on my reminder list for the next meet-up, let's say next month? The more the merrier, says I, and it sure proved true today.
Damn. I'm tired and so happy.
Okay, off to be stupid in quiet. I'm going to the little mama's house tomorrow for some hot cross buns so I won't be around on-line much for the next few days. But I'll be thinkin' of ya! Meantime, didja see my new cafepress store (below)? Knitting IS sexy, damn it. See above pics for proof!

Cadburry creme eggs are by far the most wonderful candies made on earth! Last year for Easter my mom gave me some type of Costco pack of them. I tried to horde them, but I think I ate them all before the day was out! Enjoy.

Rachael it was so great to meet you! Have you ordered the Bella pattern yet? My boyfriend was teasing me because I was sitting here hitting the refresh button waiting for your post.

So glad you didn't bring those Cadbury Eggs to the S&B, Rachel, or they'd've been gone! I love them too.
I had way too much fun with you all today. Totally in love with everyone there. I'm jazzed, inspired and so pleased with my S.E.X. (Stash Enhancement eXperience) at Article Pract. Can't wait to do it all again!
And you, my dear, are so adorable I could just squish ya!

I cannot BELIEVE the turnout you had! AMAZING. What fun, fun, fun! Such interesting and talented people! And your tank looks lovely.

My word you're fast, girl! I thought I'd check some of the blogs before writing my own post about the afternoon, and I see you've already got yours up, complete with all those photos! Wonderful afternoon--thanks for thinking of it.

Oh yeah, I remembered what I was doing while you were posting: delving into the Great Stash Redistribution box...

My weakness is the Cadbury Mini Eggs. Yum. My sister had a friend that worked at Cadbury and used to give us bags of the Mini Eggs that were from when the machines were getting changed or something. Unfortunately (or fortunately) they moved that plant over 10 years ago and I just have to remember to buy myself a few bags every year.
Your tank came out great. I just picked up the issue today and really like a few things in the issue.

Damn! We're cute.

Yes, Juliette, we are. Dead sexy!

Sorry... those Cadbury Eggs are available here in Canada year round... They are good but the mini's even better! (and I should know, there is a stash of them hidden in my closet for the kids' Easter Bunny visit in the morning (provided mummy doesn't eat them all first! ;)
Looks like a great turnout and a fab time, wish I could have been there. Love the pink by Martha as well as her sense of style (this coming from someone who is THIS close to hacking all her hair off...)
You should make it a monthly event! Good for you for pulling it off and having a good time :)

Looks like a wonderful time!
Your hair is getting so long! Thinking about growing it out?

Oh that looks like it was so much fun! Glad to see your fabulous tank out in the world.
Have a great visit with the little mama.

Oh chica, Cadbury Creme Eggs... aahhhh. I'm Hindu, so this holiday season to us every year meant Cadbury Creme Eggs all around! My parents are always, "Is it Creme Egg season yet?" :) Very excited about stocking refrigerator tomorrow. I am intrigued by these mentions of MiniEggs as well, but probably for the best that I don't know about them or where to get them, because there could be some serious addiction issues happening.
Also, congrats on what looks like a fantastic SnB! I just heard about a new one here that I am excited to go to, but also nervous b/c I don't know any of the participants. Time to get over that & have some good knitting time!

Safe driving to see little mama, ya hear?
and of course BIG HUGS from us!

Rachel-
Look at you in that sweater, Sweeet! I thought about going to the meetup, but alas, I remebered that I was meant to be a hermit. However, if I had known you were going to wear that sweater I would have been the first one there and the last to leave. Okay, I'll give how good you look in that sweater a rest. I didn't think that sweater was anything big when I saw the magazine, but after seeing it on you, I realized that sometimes it's not so much the pattern it's what you put into it...oops, I was going to stop about the sweater...sorry. Seriously though, it makes me think of taking a risk in my knitting.
It looks like you guys had fun, maybe next time. I did however knit Saturday and think of you, mainly..How can she knit so f'in fast and that girl has talent oozing from her sweater! -

Thank you Rachael & Joanna & Silvia for organizing--that was so much fun. I'm a relatively new knitter, so that was the 1st time I've gotten a chance to play with sticks in the company of more than one other addict at a time. And everyone was so cutie-pie & friendly & chatty & smart--I was nervous to meet so many strangers at once but no need. Let's do it again. Don't let me buy any more yarn next time tho, no matter how much I plead.

It's almost like I was there! And I would've if I could've.

Thank-you for posting the pics dear! One of these days I'll remember my camera, :P.

Thanks for posting about the event yesterday! Wish I could have gone, but the IRS wants their paperwork this Thursday, and I can't procrastinate any longer. Anyway, with the amount I owe them it's a good thing I didn't go near a knitting store.
And you know, if you can't get Cadbury Creme Eggs, you just have to get a Cadbury bar and warm it up a little so it's all melty - mmmmmm.

California knitting...it looks like you had such a great time. You should definitely make it a monthly event. Thanks for posting all the pictures so I can see what folks look like. Hi everyone!

Looks like a great time. Did you acquire any yarn? Hope little mama continues to feel well. Didya bring the kitties to visit? Might remind them to continue to be nice to each other. :)

Hell, yea, baby, knitting is sexy! Well, especially when you knit that little tank top...I swear if I weren't straight and if I were only about a decade younger! Keep that photo handy for your sweetie, sweetie.
Marta, who was snowed out of her stitch and bitch last Saturday :-(
