For some reason, this article in Slate made me think of you. I've not yet read your book (money has been so very tight due to sick kitties and kiddos who need glasses and braces), so I don't yet know if there are any distant dogs barking in it, but I will definitely keep an eye out for any that might appear when I am able to read it. :)
