New Book GiveawayApril 7, 2013

Yesterday's was such a mammoth post (the Italy catch-up post), so this is just a quick giveaway of the new book that you can only get in Australia and New Zealand! (I'll keep you posted on the US/Canada/UK sell date as soon as I know it, darlings.)

9781742753195

Cora, a farm-girl who's been hurt too much in the past, safeguards everything--except her heart. Mac is a large-animal veterinarian who has already risked it all and lost everything that mattered. When a secret is revealed, Cora has to decide whether Mac is a safe bet . . . or the worst gamble of her life.

I'll give away TEN COPIES. That's good odds, yo. Five will go to random commenters on this post, and five will go to randomly drawn members of my mailing list.

And because I like my comments to be fun for all to read, please tell me in the comments what you plan to do this week to make yourself happy. (Oh, my goodness, I can't wait to read these. I can feel the vicarious happiness already building.)

I'll draw on Friday. Good luck!

I plan to work hard (get caught up), study hard (the quarter is just starting for a couple of accounting classes I'm taking), play hard (take lots of dance classes), and knit fast (to finish up the shawl for my mom's birthday which is only a little over two weeks away).

i ordered a kindle e reader that I have wanted for a long time. it will be here Tuesday, and I am going to use my new sewing machine to make a case for it. also I will be finishing a sweater I am knitting from a pattern published in 1965. I am really proud of this sweater!

I'm good to rest and take it easy after a weekend trip. I'm going to remove things that are unimportant from my to do list and take care of myself. Thanks for the giveaway! I love your books!

Skip work on Thrusday and Friday to take my kids to the zoo then play with lots of yarn at Stitches.

Can't get over your Italy pics and would love to win your book!

To make myself happy this week....I will work on my newly started crochet pattern. Great stress relief and cheaper than therapy!

Thanks for the giveaway.

I have four evenings off this week and I plan to KNIT!

To make me happy this week...hmm..
I think I shall cut out and sew a top for me. I made a renfrew top last week and loved it but made it in a colour that was not me, this week - blue for me! Wearable woohoo!
Cannot wait.

Oh this is easy...to make myself happy I will get my butt back in the pool and swim my laps like I should be. Look forward to the latest tale of romance.

Just knowing you have a new book coming out makes me happy! This week ... yoga class, casting on a pair of socks, watching the end of school draw near ... all happy things.

I've been hunting for this book. I asked my local library to order it but since it isn't available in the US yet they can't get it. As soon as you tell us the date I will tell them so the order can go in.

To make myself happy this week I'm going to take a breather from doing the loads of homework for my Fashion Merchandising classes and have some recreational "me" time. School has been nigh overwhelming for me these past few weeks (Spring Break, which I just returned from, was anything but for me. Yay homework, projects, and event planning!), and I've been needing to de-stress. My mom is treating me to a spa day on Monday (thanks Mom!), and for my "me time fun time" I'm going to knit (naturally), finish sewing a dress I've been working on sporadically since Christmas, and sleep in until at least noon (if my kitties will allow it...probably not but I'm going to try!).

LOVED the Italy photos and posts. Reading/looking at them reminded me of when I worked in a photo lab a few years back; I used to go on vicarious vacations through customers' photos. Someday I'll go myself...Italy's been on my Bucket List for as long as I can recall, and your posts further cemented that. :-)

I will relax and breathe through my nose. And be grateful for all my blessings.

Happy has been a problem lately, but right now I'm eating fresh mango and that makes me happy. For the rest of the week, walking, painting and knitting.

With the weather up here in Canada still ridiculously cold it has been incredibly hard to stay chipper and happy. But I continue to do my best with the seedlings on the dining room table promising that spring really is going to show up one day.

I've been curious - why do your books come out first in Aus/NZ?

The only particularly happy things I have planned for this week are to enjoy the spring weather that has finally arrived (lunch outside today perhaps?), and to bake something with the Meyer lemons I've been hoarding.

I have been waiting too long for the next book to get here!!! To make my self happy this week I will be doing alot of walking in this beautiful spring weather! Next I will be celebrating my birthday by taking my grandson trout fishing. It will be so nice to enjoy the outdoors:) fishing, walking and reading!!

Wow, hard question. I don't think about this often, instead I think about how to get my papers written (for work) and be more efficient. I know! I'll get the jigsaw puzzle out that I bought recently and spend some time working on that in the evening. It's so colorful!

This week I'm resuming walking with my two dogs. We just had the puppy spayed 2 weeks ago and we've finally been given the All Clear for daily walks with her. As it turned out, I missed the walks just as much as the dogs did!

I slept. It was divine. And I drank wine and read my book. I love having the chance to slow down.

Yay! Thanks for the giveaway. I'm planning on going to yoga class and then having dinner with a friend this week along with continuing to knit on a very pretty cabled wrap.

Welcome back, Rachael! This week I'm going to finish DH's sock and... start one for me me me! That will get me happy for sure!

To make myself happy this week I am going to try and decide just what it is that I think actually will make me happy. Is it to be healthier, spend more time knitting, do more gardening, try hardier to be the person I want to be, or just relax and breath.

This week I plan go get some happiness from:
1) picking a yarn from my stash for a vanilla sock for travel knitting
2) going to Stitches South (why I need travel knitting)
3) buying more yarn at #2
4) being open to things so I find even more joy on my life beyond what I plan for.

I started out by having a mani-pedi on Sunday -- always makes me happy! Then I cast on the sleeves for a sweater that I really want to finish, while watching the season premiere of mad Men! What a great start to the week...

Knit. Is there anything else, really?

To make myself happy, I'm going to go to Yoga on Thursday night. I'm not going to feel guilty about not being with my baby, I'm not going to feel guilty about taking away from my husband's "free time." I am going to go to yoga and not think about anything but yoga.

I am going to finish painting the woodwork and touching up the new paint because of the new crown moldings that we installed in our living room this weekend. Our ceiling came down in August and it has been a huge undertaking to have the living room back to normal...maybe even better than normal...so I am going to make myself happy by having it finished. Then I am going to park my behind on the sofa and knit while admiring the new color. I think I will be very happy when that happens! And If I win the giveaway and have your book, that will be the icing on the cake!

I am going to make myself happy by figuring out why the comment I wrote about finishing the touchup painting in my living room and then knitting in there won't post up!

Please don't enter me- I have mine already! If I could get photos to upload(grr computers) I'd show you a copy in the wild. It was actually still on the gentlemans cart to shelve when I first saw it.
Is now at all the big stores-in Australia.
Thanks for the info and thanks for another fun book.

Well, since it all comes full circle: back to you, and back to me - I obviously have to share what I am going to do to make myself happy. First, though, I want to thank you for the fabulous trip to Italy. Thanks to the pictures, I was totally with you (save, perhaps, for the nasty food poisoning), and had a most restful vicarious vacation.

It was the photo of you in your 'travel' shawl that sent me back to Ravelry to peruse shawl patterns, which led to my casting on for Nadita's Dream Bird. I've loved every minute of the first feather and triangle (this short swing-knitting is great fun), and am looking forward to putting in some serious shawl knitting time this week. How does it tie back to me? the palette is coincidentally identical to the one I chose for a painting of a foggy dreamscape with a heron in flight two months ago.

Wishing you great success with your new book!

Knitting and watching tv or listening to a book is what makes me really happy...and I plan on doing just that!

A friend gave me a copy of Eliza's Gift, which I started reading this week. I'm having a hard time putting it down and will continue to read it this week. In addition, it is inspiring me to get back to my spinning wheel. I had taken a break to knit a shawl for my niece who is getting married. Now that is finished, my time is my own again! Thanks for the lovely read.

I've been sick the last couple weeks and am just now getting over it, so I plan on starting my regular runs (slowly!) again this week. Also yoga on Saturday--I finally found a studio I like in my new city!

This week? To make myself happy? I'm eating healthfully, working out, and trying to push myself to do my best at the gym. Because once I've done that, I'm in a great mood for the rest of the day and am proud of what I've accomplished. And I sleep TONS better too. :)

Would love to read your new book! Next weekend I'm teaching a class on stranded knitting, that's one of my favorite things. And I might treat myself to a piece of cheesecake since I have to work on Sunday. And I'm knitting, of course.

I am going to see Rufus Wainwright, one of my all-time favorite singers, this weekend. Makes me smile just thinking about it!

Seriously I started Friday before I read this post, but I am re-reading all your books again, for the 5th time at least. Work is going to be crazy so I need something light that I can escape in, which is why I chose them again.

I plan to start a new quilt project this week and finish another!

this weekend (and monday) I consumed most of a 3 liter box of wine, with ice and cranberry juice, to mitigate dealing with my difficult family. In between discussions of why racial slurs aren't acceptable language around me, I texted with my boytoy who's 15 years younger than me, went to the local gym, and thought about how good my life back home in Portland has become.

I loved reading through your traveling post. I travel for work, but not to the most exciting places.

To make myself happy, I will be working on a knitting project for me. I've been making baby clothes for a new niece due in a few months. So time for a little something for me. :-)

To make myself happy this week I am making a pinata for my daughters birthday party. It's crazy how many different things can get those crafty juices going. I also got $5 for Starbucks from my man, so I will find some time to slip away from kids and homework to just relax.

This weekend I'm going to watch my Chicago Blackhawks beat Detroit and St. Louis from my couch while knitting a halter top for my granddaughter. Perhaps some garden cleanup if the weather is happy. Maybe re-reading my beloved Rachel Herron books ;o)
Thanks for your giveaway offer, Rachel!

Except for today's blizzard induced snow day (ahh- springtime in the Rockies!), I will be volunteering at my daughter's former school (it's for 4th graders only, she's a big bad 6th grader now) all week, and every afternoon in April as I've done since my daughter was a student there. The kids are working on their big Spring Field Project. Since I'm familiar with all of the groups, I work with whichever group is shorthanded that day- so far I've planted "potato traps", dug under rotted logs and used numerous field guides to help identify various creepy crawlies with the Terrestrial Invertebrate group and tramped through the woods with the Animal Signs group looking for, identifying and logging animal tracks and scat (foot prints, disturbed vegetation and poop to animal sign muggles). That still leaves my mornings free for knit groups and my evenings free for knitting at 6th grade daughter's lacrosse practices. As Hannah Montana was wont to say "it's the best of both worlds!".

This week I plan to make myself happy by finishing the touchups of my newly painted living room. We lost the ceiling because of a leak last summer and we are FINALLY getting finished getting everything back together. After the touch ups I plan to sit my backside on the sofa and admire the room while knitting.

Today I have eaten sushi and tomorrow I am going to see a bluegrass concert!

I am going for a fitting for the dress I'm wearing to my daughter's and her girlfriend's wedding next month. And I swear I'm going to squeeze in some knittin' time!

This week I will read a book for pleasure and not for school or work or self improvement. And I will do it in the sunshine sitting out by the pool

Well, this week a long time Internet friend came over with her daughter (she was pregnant with her at the same time when I was expecting my boy) and the four of us is spending a lot of time together... also the monthly knitting meeting is on this saturday, which is always a balm to any soul.

This week, I'm getting caught up on some work deadlines and it always feels good to check things off my list. I'm also making a birthday gift for my sister-in-law (knitting the Honey Cowl) and it is making me happy to see it grow, knowing that her birthday is in just a couple of weeks.

Second day of a spinning retreat. Spin, drink, knit, eat, drink, spin, nap, drink. This week is double fun. Knitting guild on Monday and class on Wednesday. Doesn't get any better than that. Read all your books and happened to meet you at Rhinebeck the year the first book came out. Believe it or not I had already read it.

Ooooh, would so love to win! This week I'm planning to prime my new kitchen walls! That will make me happy because it means progress on getting back to a functional kitchen!

To make myself happy this week I've been wearing all of my new clothes - WITHOUT WASHING THEM FIRST! I know, how daring of me.

I have a kayak date with BFF's to put boats into Tahoe, first dunk of the new year! yeay......always brings on "waves" of happiness....
then some knitting with luxury yarn...decadent and pricey, so considering taxes are due on Monday I am so very glad I bought this yarn for self when I hadn't a financial care in the world! (when was that anyway...)
Hope you all experience a moment of happiness this weekend! p.s. - and always check in with Yarnagogo your adventures bring smiles my way..

love your books, I cannot wait to read this one!

Interesting, I just finished a book about a large-animal vet. yours sounds good. mary in Cincinnati

Oh, Rachael, what a wonderful way to run this contest! And you know what? Sorely needed here. Too many work stressors and too little sleep are pounding me. I haven't thought about what to do for myself for quite a while, just about coping and maintaining.

Well, I haven't knit for several days, which rarely happens. I think I will take some time tonight to knit and read, or knit and listen to BBC Radio Four Extra (a fun thing, when I remember to do it). Maybe a glass of wine or something for good measure.

Thank you for doing everything you do, and I am looking forward to the new book!

This weekend I am going to put on my oldest grubbiest clothes and head out to the garden! Calling for sun and will be the first day out there this year. Looking forward to it!

Rachael.....you won't believe what I am doing this week to make me happy!! lol Dad and I are driving to Fresno tomorrow for the weekend.....my oldest daughter will be there on Sunday from Oregon and we are having a picnic in the park for her family and friends from school....Rachael, I have not seen her in 18 yrs! Circumstances, just damn circumstances and divorce creates more problems than you can imagine sometimes!! I knew one day she would grow up and circumstances in her own life has helped her to do just that....I am beyond happy but scared as hell too (of what? Hell I don't have a clue!!).....I kinda thought I would never see her again before I died and now I will.....God must think I have done something good......lol

I've been thinking about this all week. I am not good at doing things to make myself happy. I'm good at doing my job, I'm good at collapsing from exhaustion (maybe an exaggeration, but my job is draining), I'm OK at doing the other random things that need to be done, but not good about doing something just to make me happy. I think the closest I came this week was making some knitted wrap bracelets which will be class samples. At least they had pretty beads!

(I am not nearly as unhappy a person as this comment might lead you to believe. I'm just not good at doing something specifically because it will make me happy.)

I am starting a new body weight strength training program this week - I am so excited to start moving towards a leaner, stronger me!

Thanks for the chance to win this giveaway! Look forward to reading this book.
